Mosotho Pet Food Imports Expected to Plummet by 2028 MASERU — Mosotho's pet food imports are projected to dramatically decline to approximately 60,000 kilograms by 2028, down from around 220,000 kilograms in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 20 percent. This trend is not new. Since 2008, demand for pet food imports in Mosotho has been consistently shrinking, with an average yearly reduction of just over 10 percent. In contrast, Mosotho's pet food exports are on an upward trajectory. By 2028, exports are expected to reach roughly 27,000 kilograms, up from nearly 23,000 kilograms in 2023. This marks an annual growth rate of nearly 3 percent. Since 2008, the country's pet food supply has seen a steady increase, growing by more than 4 percent each year.
