Key Market Indicators
Nigerian pet food imports are projected to decline significantly over the next five years. By 2028, imports are expected to reach approximately 769,000 kilograms, down from around 1.3 million kilograms in 2023. This represents an annual decrease of 8.5%. The trend of declining demand is not new for Nigeria. Since 2001, the country's pet food imports have been shrinking at an average rate of 10.8% per year. As the import numbers continue to fall, the pet food industry in Nigeria faces an increasingly challenging market landscape.
