This marks an increase from around 132 million kilograms in 2023, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3%. The demand for pet food in Malaysia has seen a consistent rise, growing at an annual rate of 4.6% since 1994. On the export front, Malaysian pet food shipments saw a notable increase in 2018. Exports surged to nearly 1.5 million kilograms from approximately 1.2 million kilograms in 2017, representing a 21.4% jump within a year. Despite this recent uptick, the long-term trend shows a decline. Since 1994, the supply of pet food for export has decreased by an average of 37.8% annually.
