This marks an average annual growth rate of 2.3%. Historically, the Emirati electricity supply has seen steady expansion. Since 1990, the country’s electricity generation has increased at an average annual rate of 3.1%. In the global context, the United Arab Emirates was ranked 27th in electricity generation in 2023, with Sweden slightly ahead, also generating around 159 terawatt-hours. The top positions were held by the United States, India, and Russia, occupying the second, third, and fourth spots respectively.
