Key Market Indicators
Namibia's electrical equipment exports are projected to decline significantly in the coming years. By 2028, exports are expected to drop to approximately $22.7 million, down from around $29.8 million in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 4.3%. The trend of falling exports is not new; since 2005, the country's electrical equipment supply has been shrinking at an average rate of 3.1% per year. In contrast, Namibia's imports of electrical equipment are on the rise. Imports are forecasted to reach nearly $432 million by 2028, up from about $406 million in 2023. This marks a modest annual growth rate of 1%. The upward trajectory in demand has been consistent since 2005, with imports increasing at an average rate of 1.3% per year. This divergence between export and import trends indicates a growing reliance on foreign electrical equipment to meet domestic needs, raising questions about the sustainability and competitiveness of Namibia's electrical equipment industry.
