Sri Lankan metal imports are set to reach 1.8 million metric tons by 2026, according to data from 1975. The country was the 85th largest importer in 2021, with 1.5 million metric tons. Tanzania overtook it with 1.5 million metric tons. Japan, South Korea and Germany were the top three importers, according to the ranking. Year-on-year, Sri Lankan demand for metal increased by an average of 3.2%, while the projected growth rate for the period 2021-2026 is 2.2%.
