Key Market Indicators
Cameroon's plastic export industry is projected to experience steady growth over the next five years. The sector is expected to reach approximately $10.3 million by 2028, a modest increase from around $9.9 million in 2023. This reflects an average annual growth rate of 0.7%. Since the turn of the millennium, Cameroonian plastic exports have risen by 1% annually on average. Meanwhile, the country's plastic import market is also on the rise. Imports are forecasted to hit nearly $218 million by 2028, up from about $198 million in 2023. This represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.6%. Since 2000, the demand for imported plastics in Cameroon has climbed by an average of 2.2% each year. These trends indicate a growing reliance on plastic imports to meet domestic demand, even as the nation makes incremental gains in its export capabilities.
