Gambian plastic imports are projected to decline over the next five years. By 2028, the country's plastic imports are expected to reach approximately $3.88 million, down from around $4.1 million in 2023. This reflects an average annual decrease of 0.8%. Since the year 2000, Gambian demand for plastic imports has seen a consistent decline, averaging a 3% drop per year. On the export front, the situation is similarly concerning. In 2018, Gambian plastic exports amounted to roughly $2,100, a significant decline from the $3,670 recorded in 2017. This represents a sharp 43.1% decrease in just one year. Long-term trends are even more stark. Since 2000, the supply of Gambian plastic exports has plummeted by an average of 68.3% annually.
