Since 1990, however, Mexico's electricity supply has experienced a slight decline, decreasing by an average of 0.2% each year. In the global rankings for 2023, Mexico placed 13th in electricity generation. Iran surpassed Mexico with an output of 346 terawatt-hours. Leading the rankings were the United States, India, and Russia, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
