Historically, the country's electricity supply has been on a steady rise, with an annual growth rate of 1.7% since 1990. Despite this consistent increase, Saudi Arabia ranked 11th globally in electricity generation in 2023. France edged out Saudi Arabia with a similar output of roughly 407 terawatt-hours. In the global rankings, the United States, India, and Russia held the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively, highlighting the competitive nature of electricity generation among leading nations.
