Since 1990, the country has seen a consistent rise in its electricity supply, with an average yearly increase of 3.5%. In 2023, Azerbaijan ranked 65th globally in electricity generation. Denmark, with a similar production level of around 30 terawatt-hours, edged out Azerbaijan in the rankings. Leading the global pack in electricity generation were the United States, India, and Russia, holding the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
