German imports of coking coal fell by 15.9% in 2020 compared to a year earlier, with 10.2 thousand metric tons exported. On the other hand, imports are projected to increase by 0.8% annually on average until 2026, reaching 10.8 thousand metric tons in that year. Since 1995, Germany's coking coal demand has decreased by 5% each year. In 2021, Ukraine was the top importer of coking coal with 9.6 thousand metric tons. Germany, the Netherlands and France followed as the second, third and fourth largest importers.
