Since 1999, demand for the product has grown 13.8% year on year. In 2021, Uruguay was the world's 88th largest importer of polyvinyl acetate, overtaken by Armenia. Italy, the United States and France placed second, third and fourth, respectively. Uruguay's exports of polyvinyl acetate fell dramatically from 87,040 kilograms in 2017 to 17,940 kilograms in 2018, a drop of 79.4%. In 2018, the country came in 54th in the world, with Bulgaria overtaking it. Switzerland, Germany and Saudi Arabia were the second, third and fourth largest exporters of this product.
