Belgium topped the ranking of global imports with $1.2 billion in 2021. Germany, the United States, and Japan followed in second, third, and fourth place respectively. Burkina Faso saw the biggest increase in imports, growing 99% year-on-year since 2017, while Greenland witnessed the sharpest decline, falling 48.9%. The United States was the main exporter with $1.4 billion in 2021. Belgium, Germany, and Austria rounded out the top four. Tanzania had the highest year-on-year growth rate at 194.1%, while Uganda experienced the largest decline at 79.3%.
