In the five years since 2016, demand has risen by 1.2% each year. Germany was the biggest market in 2021, reaching €115 billion. The UK, Italy and France followed in the rankings, with Romania showing the most growth at 10% each year since 2016. Spain saw a decline of 1.2% in the same period.
