The most drastic decline was seen in 2016 with a year-on-year drop of -24.48%. Although employment briefly rebounded in 2018 with an increase of 32.06%, the overall trend remained downward. The last two years continued this trend with a decrease of -8.29% in 2022 and -6.76% in 2023.
Forecasts indicate a continued decline with a projected employment of 2.88 thousand by 2028, corresponding to a forecast 5-year CAGR of -7.56% and an overall decrease of 32.5% over the forecasted period. Given these trends, it is crucial to monitor sector-specific future trends inclusive of technological advancements, automation in manufacturing processes, and potential shifts in global supply chains, which could further impact employment dynamics in this sector.
