Notably, there was exponential growth observed between 2018 and 2020 with respective year-on-year increases of 91.62% and 152.81%. By 2023, the turnover stood at €161.1 million with a 15.07% increase from the previous year.
In terms of the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), the sector experienced substantial increments, achieving a CAGR of 57.35% over the last five years leading up to 2023. Moving forward, a slower yet positive forecast is expected with a 4.11% CAGR and an overall growth rate of 22.32% by 2028.
Future trends to watch for include the continued expansion of broadband internet services, investments in 5G infrastructure, and the possible impacts of new technologies such as quantum computing and IoT, which would further drive demand for high-capacity fibre optic cables.
