Between 2017 and 2021, the import volume decreased by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 44.9%, illustrating a substantial reduction in demand. Specifically, the year-on-year variation from 2020 to 2021 was a sharp decrease of 84.5%.
By 2023, the trend of declining imports appeared to stabilize, with volumes maintaining low levels. Future trends to watch would include potential recovery in industrial activities, changes in import regulations, or global supply chain shifts, which might influence Brazil's demand for these imports. Monitoring the global economic recovery post-pandemic and shifts in local manufacturing policies could also be pivotal.
