In 2023, Germany led European shipping volumes, handling 30.32 billion tonne-kilometers, while the Netherlands followed closely at 24.84. Germany experienced moderate growth of 0.78%, whereas the Netherlands saw a slight decline of -0.066%. Romania showed strong growth, increasing by 11.25%. On the contrary, countries like France and Luxembourg faced declines of -2.78% and -4.71% respectively. Meanwhile, Slovakia demonstrated a significant 9.34% rise. Smaller markets such as Hungary, Bulgaria, and Croatia, although starting at lower volumes, registered positive growth rates. Poland and the Czech Republic recorded the largest declines, at -8.84% and -19.73%, respectively.

Future trends point towards increased digitalization and automation in shipping, driven by sustainability goals and efficiency demands. As supply chains continue to globalize, the demand for robust, scalable, and environmentally-friendly shipping solutions is likely to grow.
