China is the largest and most competitive market for paperboard production and consumption. By 2026, the country's paperboard import is projected to reach 16 million metric tons, representing a 3.3% year-on-year CAGR growth since 2021. This is a considerable increase from the 1966 figure, which was 22.7% higher year-on-year. Germany, the United States, and Italy took the second, third, and fourth spots in the 2021 ranking. Meanwhile, Chinese paperboard exports are set to reach nearly 7 million metric tons by 2026, a marginal 0.8% year-on-year growth from 2021. This is a slight decrease from the 1966 figure, which was 3.2% lower year-on-year. Finland was the top exporter in 2021, while the United States, Sweden, and Finland followed in the second, third, and fourth positions.
