The world leading supplier of automotive parts and systems

Bosch offices are well located.

Meet the Bosch Company, which is considered to be the top automotive supplier among the top car OES companies, across the entire world.

Basically, this position will probably be preserved because of its fast-growing manufacturing and development process, leading to more and more innovative systems and approaches. However, a recently approved merger between the two auto-parts manufacturers ZF Friedrichshafen AG and TRW Automotive Holdings Corp could threaten Bosch's leading position on the market.

A quick snapshot

The company was established back in November 1886. Its current name, after the original founder – Robert Bosch – was only established in 1937. In the beginning, the supplier was named Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering.

But this name wasn’t wrong, because that’s what the firm was doing – electrical engineering and first-class mechanical work. The firm originated near Stuttgart, Germany, even though it now has a worldwide contribution to the global automotive industry.

Now the company’s main production is focused on automotive components as well as production of his primary competitor, Continental. As an example, the company is a leader in the manufacturing of brakes, electrical drives, fuel systems, controls, electronics, generators, steering products, and starter motors. Alongside the automotive parts for all kinds of vehicles, cars, and trunks, it is a leader in industrial products (packing ethnology, drives and controls and, of course, their affordable, but high quality consumer goods) plus the building products, mainly security systems, household appliances, thermo-technology products, and power tools. At this moment, the group can boast 350 subsidiaries spread among more than 60 countries across all the continents. Its clients are found in 150 countries and for this reason it has more than 300 thousand employees. The firm is a leading vehicle supplier and its revenue can prove it – about 52.5 billion EUR for 2012.

Meanwhile, the huge progress that the group shows in each new product is proven by its huge number of patents. It has settled more than 4800 patents across the entire world. Of course, we are more interested in the car activity by Bosch. The German leader in supplying is a major organization that is devoted to the development of automotive parts and systems.

An international and diversified leader

Nearly 60% of sales by Bosch are international. They are all made in contemporary automotive technology. As a matter of fact, Bosch invented magneto – one of the biggest achievements in the automotive industry ever. This is an old ignition source of electricity. It provides a spark that is necessary for the fuel, which was applied in the very first internal combustion engines.

Of course, these aren’t all the reasons Bosch can be attractive for partners, consumers, and investors. Bosch is the leader in car stereo systems as well as in modern in-car navigation technology. Meanwhile, it takes the major share of the global manufacturing in traction control systems, spark plugs, oxygen sensors, body electronics, fuel pumps, engine cooling fans, and much more!
