South Africa's crude oil production decreased by 14.2% in 2021 compared to the previous year, to 40.9 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent. Since 2002, the country's supply has decreased by 17.3% year on year. South Africa ranked 76th in crude oil production in 2021, behind the Czech Republic, which produced 40.9 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent. Saudi Arabia, the United States and Iraq followed, ranking second, third and fourth respectively.
