Greek demand for crude oil dropped slightly in January 2022, totalling 2,010 thousand metric tons. This was a 0.9% decline compared to December 2021, when it had registered 1,980 thousand metric tons. On an annual basis, demand has been slowly declining since 2007 - with an average decrease of 0.1% per year. Greek crude oil production is projected to reach 123 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent by 2026. This is a 0.2% decrease compared to 2021, when it reached 122.6 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent. Going back to 1986, production has fallen by 5.2% annually. In 2021, Greece was the 73rd largest producer of crude oil, behind Israel, but ahead of Saudi Arabia, the United States and Iraq.
