Since 2000, Maltese demand has grown by an average of 3.8% per year. In 2021, Malta was the 84th largest importer, with 1.6 million kilograms, behind Honduras at the top. The Philippines, Indonesia and Algeria ranked second, third and fourth respectively. Meanwhile, Malta's exports of milk powder increased by 36.9% in 2018, reaching 15,190 kilograms, compared to 11,090 kilograms in 2017. In 2018, Malta was the 91st largest exporter, behind Fiji at the top. Germany, New Zealand and France ranked second, third and fourth respectively.
