The import of milk powder in Japan is expected to reach 52 million kilograms by 2026, a 0.7% increase from the 49.9 million kilograms recorded in 2021. This figure has grown 8% year-on-year since 1993. In 2021, Poland was the top importer with 49.9 million kilograms, followed by the Philippines, Indonesia and Algeria. Meanwhile, Japanese milk powder exports have fallen significantly in recent years. In 2019, exports were 5,060 kilograms, a 79.4% decrease from 2018’s 24,530 kilograms. Since 1993, supply has dropped 10.6% year-on-year. In 2019, Nigeria was the leading exporter with 5,060 kilograms, followed by Germany, New Zealand and France.
