However, this comes after a long-term downward trend, with exports decreasing by 0.3% per year since 1999. On the import side, Italy is set to see a decline in antibiotic imports, which are forecasted to drop to roughly $1.32 billion by 2028, from approximately $1.35 billion in 2023, translating to an annual decrease of 0.5%. Since 1999, the country's demand for imported antibiotics has fallen by an average of 1.1% per year.
