However, since 2013, the demand for passenger transport in Portugal has experienced a slight annual decline of 0.5%. In the 2023 rankings, Portugal held the 23rd position. New Zealand edged out Portugal with expenditures also at $1.01 billion. Leading the rankings were France, Canada, and Italy, securing the second, third, and fourth spots respectively.
