Despite this long-term growth, the country ranked 35th in global grain production in 2023. Notably, Mali surpassed Japan in the same year with an equal output of 11.6 million metric tons. Leading the global grain production rankings are the United States, India, and Brazil, occupying the second, third, and fourth positions respectively.
