Somalian grain production is projected to decline significantly over the next five years. According to recent data, the country's grain output is expected to drop to approximately 123,000 metric tons by 2028, down from around 161,000 metric tons in 2023. This represents an average annual decrease of 4.2%. The trend is not new for Somalia. Since 1966, the nation's grain supply has diminished at an average rate of 7.2% per year. In the global rankings for 2023, Somalia was positioned at 129th, with Armenia narrowly surpassing it with a similar production volume of about 161,000 metric tons. Globally, the top producers of grains include the United States, India, and Brazil, holding the second, third, and fourth spots, respectively.
