Rapeseed production in Ireland is set to reach 42,000 metric tons by 2026, according to a recent report. This rate of growth is relatively modest, at 1% year on year, but the figure is still an increase on the 39,640 metric tons produced in 2021. Since 1980, Irish rapeseed supply has risen at an average rate of 3.1% year on year. In 2021, Ireland was the 40th largest producer of rapeseed, while Ethiopia was the 39th largest at 39,640 metric tons. China, India and France were the top three producers, in that order. Meanwhile, Irish rapeseed consumption was 1,000 metric tons in 2018, up from a figure of 1,000 metric tons in 2017. In 2018, Ireland was the 30th largest consumer of rapeseed, while Gambia was the 29th largest at 1,000 metric tons. Canada, Germany and Spain were the top three consumers, in that order.
