Bosnia is set to become a net importer of beef in the coming years, as domestic production is declining steadily. Bosnian beef consumption is expected to hit 43,000 metric tons by 2026, up 0.5% annually since 2017. Currently, the country is consuming 42,000 metric tons of beef per year. Domestic beef production is set to drop to 7,340 metric tons by 2026, a 6.2% year-on-year decrease since 1997. In 2021, Bosnia was the 128th largest beef producer, with Iraq taking the lead with 10,610 metric tons. Brazil, China and Argentina followed in second, third and fourth place respectively. As domestic production continues to drop, Bosnia is set to become a net importer of beef in the near future.
