Global beef consumption is projected to reach around 69 million metric tons by 2026, up 0.2% from 2021. Since 2017, the demand for beef has remained relatively flat. Global beef production is also set to increase by 0.7% on an annual basis to approximately 72 million metric tons in 2026. Since 1966, the global supply of beef has increased by 1.5% each year. In 2021, the United States Virgin Islands was the largest producer of beef, with 505 metric tons. Brazil, China and Argentina followed, ranking second, third and fourth respectively. Tajikistan had the highest production growth at 37.4%, while Antigua and Barbuda experienced the most significant decline of 31.3%.
