Indonesia is set to become one of the world's largest beef consumers by 2026. Consumption is expected to reach 814,000 metric tons, up 0.7% from 2021. This marks an average growth rate of 0.7% year on year since 2017. Beef production in Indonesia is also projected to increase 0.7% year on year to reach 523,000 metric tons by 2026. This marks a 0.6% decrease since 1966, when the country was the 25th largest producer of beef. Kazakhstan overtook Indonesia in 2021, producing 503,170 metric tons. Brazil, China and Argentina are the second, third and fourth largest producers, respectively.
