Malagasy sugar production is on the rise. It's expected to reach 107,000 metric tons by 2026, up 1.7% each year on average. This marks a significant increase over the last 55 years, with a 2.2% annual growth rate since 1966. In 2021, Malagasy production ranked 75th in the world. The Democratic Republic of the Congo overtook it, producing 97,000 metric tons. Brazil, Thailand and China followed as the second, third and fourth largest producers, respectively.
