Since 1966, Salvadoran supply of the crop has increased an average of 0.6% each year. In 2021, the country was ranked 24th in the world, with Nicaragua leading the way at 7.4 million metric tons. India, Thailand, and China followed in the rankings, taking second, third, and fourth place, respectively.
