Vietnamese sugarcane consumption is forecast to drop to 813,000 metric tons by 2026, a decrease of 1.7% annually compared to 2021's 899,000 metric tons. Since 2017, the demand for sugarcane in Vietnam has grown by 0.1% each year. In 2021, Vietnam ranked seventh in sugarcane consumption, with Nepal taking the lead at 899,000 metric tons. Brazil, Thailand and Egypt took the second, third and fourth spots on the list, respectively. Vietnamese sugarcane production is also expected to decline by 0.5% annually, falling from 15,930,000 metric tons in 2021 to 15,466,000 metric tons by 2026. Since 1966, sugarcane production in Vietnam has decreased by 0.5% each year. In 2021, Vietnam came in at 16th place in sugarcane production, with Egypt beating the country out at 15,930,000 metric tons. India, Thailand and China followed behind in second, third and fourth place, respectively.
