Consumption of olives in Portugal is projected to reach 26,000 tons by 2026, an increase of 1.6% annually since 2021, when it totaled 23,000 tons. This marks a decline of 1.4% since 2017. Portugal placed 20th in the rankings in 2021, behind Jordan, which had 23,000 tons. Italy, the United States, and Greece were the top three countries in the rankings. Portuguese olive production is expected to reach 1.23 million tons by 2026, with an average year-on-year growth of 3.1% since 2021, when it was 1.02 million tons. This marks an increase of 16.5% since 1966. Portugal placed 6th in the rankings in 2021, behind Egypt, which had 1.02 million tons. Italy, Morocco, and Greece were the top three countries in the rankings.
