Olive consumption in Bulgaria is projected to decline slightly over the next five years. In 2021, the country's demand for olives was estimated at 12 thousand metric tons, a decrease of 1.6% compared to 2017. This is a slower rate of decline than the 2.4% year on year average seen since then. Croatia overtook Bulgaria in 2021, with 13 thousand metric tons of demand. Italy, the United States and Greece ranked second, third and fourth respectively in the same ranking.
