Greek consumption of lemons is expected to rise slightly in the next five years, growing 0.4% on average each year. The demand for lemons has risen 0.5% annually since 2017. Meanwhile, Greek production is predicted to decrease by 0.5% each year over the same period, following a 4.6% year-on-year growth rate since 1966. In 2021, Greece was the world’s 20th biggest lemon producer, with 81,120 metric tons. Algeria, China, Mexico and Argentina took the top four spots respectively.
