Iraq's lemon consumption is set to reach 170,000 metric tons by 2026, growing at a rate of three percent per year. Demand for the citrus fruit has increased yearly since 2017, albeit slightly at 0.2 percent. Meanwhile, Iraq's production of lemons decreased 15.9 percent in 2021, from 2,060 metric tons in 2020. In the last 55 years, output declined 17.3 percent year on year. The country placed 78th in the 2021 ranking; Tonga was ahead with 1,730 metric tons. China, Mexico and Argentina came in at second, third and fourth, respectively.
