Tanzanian consumers are predicted to consume 2,160 thousand metric tons of bananas by 2026, down 0.1% from the 2,180 thousand metric tons of bananas consumed in 2021. This marks a decrease of 2.6% since 2017. The Philippines came in first in 2021 with 2,180 thousand metric tons, while China, Indonesia and Brazil rounded out the top four. Tanzanian banana production is expected to reach 3,826,400 metric tons by 2026, a 1.5% increase from 3,502,500 metric tons in 2021. This marks an increase of 2.1% since 1966. Angola overtook Tanzania in 2021 with 3,502,500 metric tons, while China, Indonesia and Brazil made up the top four.
