Israeli grapefruit consumption is predicted to drop to around 7,000 metric tons by 2026. Demand for the fruit has been on the rise since 2017, increasing by an average of 7.7% year-on-year. In 2021, Israel ranked 37th in the world for grapefruit consumption. Bulgaria narrowly edged out the country, consuming 10,000 metric tons; Vietnam, the United States and Mexico followed close behind, taking the 2nd, 3rd and 4th spots respectively.
