Colombia is set to become one of the top producers of asparagus in the world. Production is predicted to reach nearly 16,000 metric tons by 2026. This is a dramatic increase compared to 1994 when only 5,800 metric tons were produced. In 2021, Colombia was the 15th largest producer of asparagus in the world. Chile overtook Colombia to become the largest producer, accounting for 11,700 metric tons. Peru, Mexico, and Germany came in second, third, and fourth respectively.
