Potato consumption in Bangladesh is expected to reach almost 9 million metric tons by 2026, up from 8.5 million metric tons in 2021, according to projections. Since 2017, demand has grown by an average of 0.5% each year. Bangladesh ranked fifth in 2021, behind Russia's 8.5 million metric tons. India, the United States and Russia took the top three spots in the ranking. Producing 11.4 million metric tons of potatoes by 2026 is projected, up from 10.3 million metric tons in 2021. Since 1966, supply has grown by an average of 1.7% each year. Bangladesh ranked sixth in 2021, behind Germany's 10.3 million metric tons. India, Russia and Ukraine took the top three spots in the ranking.
