Bulgarian chickpea production is on the rise. By 2026, it is expected to reach around 43,000 metric tons, up from 33,000 metric tons in 2021. On average, it has grown 4.2% year-on-year since 1966. In 2021, Bulgaria placed nineteenth in the ranking of chickpea producers, with Italy in the lead at 33,000 metric tons. Myanmar, Russia, and Ethiopia followed as the second, third, and fourth-largest producers respectively.
