Global production of chickpeas is set to increase by 1.5% year on year to reach 16.9 million metric tons by 2026. This is up from 15.4 million metric tons in 2021, and marks an increase of 4.6% since 1966. India currently leads the way in production, with 10.8 million metric tons. Myanmar, Russia and Ethiopia follow in second, third and fourth place respectively. Bulgaria saw a significant jump of 40.3% year on year, while Malawi saw a decrease of 53.3% since 1966.
