Ethiopia is set to see an increase in peanut demand and supply over the next five years. Consumption is expected to grow by 0.9% year on year to 137,000 metric tons by 2026, up from 129,000 metric tons in 2021. This is an increase of 1.6% since 2017. The Netherlands overtook Ethiopia as the top consumer in 2021, with India, Nigeria and the United States coming in at second, third, and fourth place respectively. On the supply side, Ethiopian production is set to grow by 2.8% year on year to 198,830 metric tons by 2026, up from 167,920 metric tons in 2021. This is an increase of 5.3% since 1998. Ivory Coast overtook Ethiopia as the top producer in 2021, with India, Nigeria and the United States coming in at second, third, and fourth place respectively.
