Guyanese peanut consumption is set to reach 1.1 thousand metric tons by 2026. This represents a 1.2% annual growth rate since 2017, when the country ranked 118th in the world. North Korea came ahead with 1 thousand metric tons in 2021, followed by India, Nigeria and the United States in second, third and fourth place respectively. Guyanese peanut production saw a steep decline in 2020 compared to the previous year, dropping from 127.3 metric tons to 50 metric tons. This represents a 60.7% decrease and since 1966 the country's production has decreased by 23.7%. Bulgaria overtook in 2021, while India, Nigeria and the United States came in second, third and fourth place respectively.
