Nicaragua is set to become a major consumer of peanuts by 2026. The country's consumption is projected to reach 95 thousand metric tons, growing 1.5% annually from 2021 to 2026. This would be an increase of 6.1% since 2017. In 2021, Nicaragua was the 38th largest consumer, behind Gambia at 86 thousand metric tons. India, Nigeria and the United States were the top three consumers, respectively. Nicaragua's production of peanuts is also expected to rise, reaching 251,680 metric tons by 2026, up 1.7% annually from 2021 to 2026. This would be an increase of 4.1% since 1966. In 2021, Nicaragua was the 21st biggest producer, behind Angola at 227,260 metric tons. India, Nigeria and the United States were the top three producers, respectively.
