Sri Lanka's peanut consumption is expected to grow by a modest 0.6% annually over the next five years, from 33 thousand metric tons in 2021 to 33 thousand in 2026. This follows a 1% decrease in demand since 2017. Sri Lanka ranked 59th in 2021 for peanut consumption, with Gabon overtaking the country at 32 thousand metric tons. India, Nigeria and the United States came in second, third and fourth place respectively. Sri Lankan production is set to reach 32,840 metric tons by 2026, up from 28,780 metric tons in 2021, at an average annual rate of 2.2%. Since 1966, production has increased by 3.5% each year. The country ranked 47th in 2021, with Thailand overtaking it at 28,780 metric tons. India, Nigeria and the United States again earned the next three spots.
